The resurfacing of the last tweets of Arise TV anchor, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, has deepened grief among friends and followers after her tragic death in Abuja.
Naija News reports that the 29-year-old journalist was killed on Monday, September 29, during a robbery attack at her home in the Katampe area of the Federal Capital Territory.
In one of her posts from August, Maduagwu expressed her fears about insecurity in Nigeria, writing: “I pray from the depth of my heart that Nigeria never happens to me or anyone I care about.” The tweet has since gone viral, with many describing it as a chilling reflection of her fate.
A close friend also revealed their last conversation, in which the late anchor spoke about her struggles and said she felt “something was trying to consume” her.
Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has launched a full investigation into the killing. Commissioner Ajao Adewale directed intelligence and operational teams to track down the attackers, stressing that the command will ensure justice is served.
The police further urged Abuja residents to cooperate by reporting suspicious movements and sharing useful information to aid the probe.
Maduagwu’s tragic death has reignited conversations about insecurity in the nation’s capital and the vulnerability of young Nigerians striving to build their careers.
