Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has declared his intention to reclaim forests in Kwara State from armed bandits, vowing to confront criminal elements allegedly terrorizing communities across the state.

Igboho made the declaration amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Kwara, where residents have repeatedly raised alarm over attacks linked to suspected bandits and other armed groups operating from forested areas.

According to him, the time has come to flush out criminals from the forests and restore peace to affected communities, insisting that innocent citizens should no longer live in fear.

The activist maintained that his mission is aimed at protecting lives and ensuring that local residents can return to their farms and daily activities without the constant threat of violence.

Igboho, who previously gained national attention for his campaigns against criminal activities in parts of South-West Nigeria, said he remains committed to confronting insecurity wherever it threatens the safety of law-abiding Nigerians.

His latest declaration has already sparked mixed reactions, with supporters praising his resolve to tackle insecurity, while others argue that security operations should remain the responsibility of constitutionally recognized law enforcement agencies.

The renewed pledge comes at a time when insecurity remains one of Nigeria’s biggest challenges, with banditry, kidnapping and attacks on rural communities continuing to affect several states across the country.

Although the Federal Government and security agencies have intensified military operations against criminal groups, concerns persist over the activities of armed gangs occupying forests and remote communities.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Kwara State Government nor the relevant security agencies had officially responded to Igboho’s latest declaration.

His comments are expected to fuel fresh debate over community security, self-help initiatives and the role of non-state actors in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
