Popular Nollywood actor Ray Emodi has broken his silence on his temporary absence from the movie industry, revealing that extreme burnout after appearing in more than 300 productions forced him to step away from acting.

In an emotional video shared on his YouTube channel, the actor apologised to fans who had been wondering about his reduced presence on screen, explaining that the break was necessary to protect his mental and physical well-being after years of relentless work.

Emodi disclosed that since launching his acting career in 2017, he had featured in approximately 300 productions, including feature films, television series and short films, without taking meaningful time off to rest or recharge.

Reflecting on the demanding schedule, the Nollywood star admitted that the pressure eventually caught up with him, leaving him emotionally exhausted and disconnected from the passion that initially inspired his acting career.

“I acted since 2017 till last year ending. That’s about 300 productions… Eight years, no vacations, no rest. I was tired,” he said, adding that he needed time away from the cameras to rediscover his love for acting.

The actor acknowledged that his decision may have disappointed some supporters but expressed gratitude for their patience and understanding. He emphasized that the break was never about abandoning his career but about returning stronger, healthier and more motivated.

Mental health and burnout have become increasingly common topics within the entertainment industry, with many actors and creatives speaking openly about the pressures of maintaining demanding production schedules while balancing personal well-being.

Emodi’s revelation has resonated with many fans on social media, where several users praised his honesty and encouraged him to prioritize his health over constant work.

Although he did not announce a specific timeline for his full return to acting, the actor’s message suggests he remains passionate about Nollywood and hopes to reconnect with the profession after taking the much-needed break.
