Amnesty International has urged a thorough investigation into the alleged extrajudicial killings of two men by DSS personnel in Karmajiji, Abuja. The rights group condemned the incident as an abuse of power and a serious violation of human rights.
According to Amnesty, the first victim, Musa Adamu, died hours after the incident on January 19, 2026, while the second, Mallam Suleiman Salisu, passed away on January 28 at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja.
The organisation called on the Department of State Services to hold the perpetrators accountable through a fair trial, stressing that such acts erode public trust and safety. Amnesty warned that the misuse of security powers in civil matters, including business and contractual disputes, fosters a climate of fear, corruption, and vulnerability among citizens.
Highlighting the broader issue, Amnesty stated that while security agencies are meant to protect lives, cases like this undermine confidence in law enforcement and threaten societal stability.
