Shocking Twist in Ondo: Suspected Criminals Allegedly Used Lunatic Disguise to Evade Detection
A disturbing security revelation is raising fresh concerns in Ondo State after authorities uncovered what appears to be an unusual strategy allegedly used by suspected criminals to hide in plain sight.
For many residents, people wandering the streets in worn-out clothes or displaying unusual behavior may not immediately attract attention. But according to new findings from security operatives, some individuals may have allegedly used that assumption as a cover for criminal activities.
Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, have reportedly apprehended individuals accused of disguising themselves as mentally unstable persons while carrying out criminal operations across parts of Ondo State.
According to the commander of the corps, Adetunji Adeleye, intelligence reports and surveillance operations exposed the alleged activities and operational methods of the suspects.
The commander disclosed that the suspects were among 98 individuals arrested during anti-kidnapping operations conducted across the state.
Explaining how the operation unfolded, Adeleye stated that intelligence officers and undercover operatives monitored the suspects and tracked their movements. According to him, investigators observed locations where the individuals reportedly charged mobile phones, changed clothes, and coordinated activities before they were eventually apprehended.
Beyond the arrests, another dramatic development reportedly emerged during the operation. Security personnel also rescued a kidnapped couple without ransom payment after receiving distress information.
According to reports, rapid response teams moved into forest areas where the victims were believed to have been held. The female victim was reportedly rescued first, while an overnight operation later secured the release of her husband.
The discovery has triggered renewed conversations about changing criminal tactics and the evolving methods security agencies now face.
As more details continue to emerge, many are asking an unsettling question: How many threats could still be hiding in plain sight?
