The National Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has declared that the party is prepared to confront what he described as “federal might” in the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the opposition can secure victory through the ballot box.

The former Bayelsa State governor made the declaration in a post on his official X account, where he assured Nigerians that the NDC would defend the integrity of the electoral process and resist any attempt to intimidate voters.

According to Dickson, the party remains committed to ensuring that every valid vote counts and that Nigerians are allowed to choose their leaders freely without fear or coercion.

“I want to assure you that every vote will count. There will be no room for violence, intimidation, or the deployment of security operatives and armed thugs against law-abiding citizens, as some people do,” he stated.

The NDC chairman urged supporters to remain vigilant ahead of the polls, stressing that democracy can only thrive when citizens reject intimidation, vote-buying, violence, and every attempt to manipulate the electoral process.

Dickson expressed confidence that the opposition has overcome similar political challenges in the past and believes history can repeat itself in 2027.

“We have defeated federal might severally before, and, by the grace of God, we shall do so again, with me leading from the front,” he declared.

He further thanked party supporters for their continued prayers and encouragement, describing unity and determination as essential ingredients for achieving the Movement’s political objectives.

The NDC is expected to participate in the 2027 presidential election with Peter Obi as its presidential candidate, making the party one of the key opposition platforms preparing for the next electoral contest.

Dickson’s latest remarks have added to the growing political conversations ahead of 2027, as parties intensify consultations, coalition talks, and grassroots mobilization across the country. With the election still months away, political observers expect more declarations and strategic realignments as the race for Nigeria’s highest office gathers momentum.
