Tension and emotion ran high in Lagos after an Igbo businessman broke down in tears, claiming that the Lagos State Government (LASG) demolished his shop solely because of his tribal identity.

In a viral video now making rounds on social media, the distraught man lamented bitterly as he watched his shop being reduced to rubble, insisting that his was the only one affected on the street.

“My shop was the only one demolished by the LASG because I’m the only Igbo person. Money wey I invest for shop, who I go ask?” he cried in the video.

The footage shows an excavator tearing down the structure while passersby and neighbors watched helplessly.

Social media users have expressed shock and outrage, pointing out that several other shops in the same area were left untouched, fueling allegations of ethnic bias.

The heartbroken trader, who said he had spent years building his business, lamented the loss of his investment and the emotional pain of watching his hard work destroyed.

“My suffer, my sweat… the whole street na only me own they demolish,” he said tearfully.

As of press time, the Lagos State Government has not issued any official statement explaining the reason behind the demolition or addressing the allegations of selective targeting.

Online, the video has sparked a heated debate about ethnic relations, urban policy enforcement, and fairness in governance. Many commenters demanded an investigation, urging LASG to clarify its actions and compensate the affected trader if the demolition was indeed unjustified.
