The controversy surrounding the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) took another dramatic turn on Tuesday after self-acclaimed Director-General, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, failed to appear in court for his scheduled arraignment over alleged certificate forgery and fraud.

The absence of Adeyemi has fueled fresh reactions, especially as the case continues to attract national attention. He was expected to appear before Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court, Abuja, to answer an eight-count charge involving alleged forgery, fraud and impersonation.

Court records show that the case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, was filed by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki on November 27, 2025. Yet, despite the matter appearing on the court’s official cause list, the defendant was nowhere to be found when proceedings commenced.

The high-profile case is expected to feature several key witnesses, including President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside other government officials, civil servants from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, and a Deputy Superintendent of Police.

The latest development comes barely a day after Adeyemi publicly addressed the controversy during an interview on Channels Television. He insisted he was not hiding from security agencies, claiming instead that he had gone off the radar because of alleged threats to his life.

In another explosive claim, Adeyemi maintained that he paid ₦400 million through a proxy to secure his appointment as Director-General of the disputed PFIPC. He alleged that the money was linked to President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, a claim that has continued to spark widespread debate.

Adding another twist, Adeyemi disclosed that individuals who allegedly financed the ₦400 million payment have now reported him to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), further intensifying the unfolding scandal.

With the defendant still missing and the allegations growing more serious, many Nigerians are watching closely to see what happens next in one of the country’s most talked-about political controversies.
