Nollywood actress Anita Joseph has stepped forward to defend May Edochie after her former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, accused her of staging fake awards and ambassadorial titles.
It was reported that the controversy erupted when a video of Emeka surfaced online, alleging that Anita Joseph was behind orchestrated recognitions for May. His comments came shortly after May filed a ₦1.5 billion lawsuit against him, accusing him of defamation and cyberbullying.
Reacting on Instagram on Tuesday, Anita strongly dismissed the allegations, describing them as false and unfair. She maintained that every award May Edochie has received was genuinely earned.
Anita also questioned why Emeka continued to publicly attack May even after their professional relationship had ended, calling out his tone and lack of respect in speaking against his former client.
She said: “What did May do to you? Did she do wrong to hire you as her lawyer?
“Don’t call my name again. You said I organised an award for May. Every award May got, she merited it, she deserved it. Why are you so angry? Why are you so bitter?
“You worked with somebody, she said she doesn’t want again. Is it by force?
“This woman has survived, she has conquered. You people are just looking for ways to make May nothing will happen to May.”
Emeka had been part of May’s legal team during her marriage dispute with actor Yul Edochie before withdrawing his services.
The disagreement between him and May deepened after she replaced him with new lawyers who also issued a cease-and-desist letter against him.
The issue has since fueled heated debates on social media, with fans and critics taking sides over the high-profile clash.
