Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured Abuja residents that the era of abandoned government projects is over, declaring that every infrastructure project initiated under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will be completed.
The minister gave the assurance on Thursday after inspecting two major ongoing road projects in the nation’s capital, including the dual carriageway from Nile University to Ring Road III and the full-scope development of Arterial Road N1 linking Wuye District to Ring Road II.
Speaking after the inspection, Wike reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure and ending the long-standing culture of abandoned public projects in the FCT.
“I have said before, no project will be abandoned under Tinubu’s administration and we are keeping that promise,” the minister declared.
According to him, the administration is determined to clear the backlog of stalled infrastructure projects inherited over the years while ensuring that newly awarded projects are completed within schedule.
Wike disclosed that many projects awarded as far back as 2010 have already been completed under the current administration, while work continues on the remaining ones. He expressed confidence that most of the ongoing projects would be delivered to residents before the end of December.
The FCT minister also assured residents that the construction of the N20 Bridge over the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Expressway would be completed, urging the public to remain patient as contractors continue work across the city.
“Is there any project that we have started and abandoned? We have started to see that all are being completed, and the ones that this administration awarded will also be completed. Just be patient, every project will be completed,” Wike said.
He further praised the contractors handling various projects across the Federal Capital Territory, commending them for maintaining quality standards and delivering according to agreed timelines.
The latest assurance is expected to boost public confidence as residents continue to monitor the progress of major road and infrastructure projects aimed at improving transportation, easing traffic congestion, and accelerating development across Abuja.
