Aregbesola Breaks Silence on APC Return Rumours Amid ADC Turmoil

Fresh political tension is brewing in Osun State as former governor Rauf Aregbesola has firmly denied rumours linking him with a possible return to the ruling APC, declaring that he has completely moved on from the party he once helped to build.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ilesa on Sunday, the former Minister of Interior dismissed the claims as false narratives designed to create confusion within the opposition camp. His statement comes at a time when political realignments and party crises continue to dominate conversations ahead of future elections.

Aregbesola did not hold back in his criticism of the current leadership at the federal level, insisting that the vision upon which the APC was founded has been abandoned. According to him, Nigerians are battling worsening economic hardship and insecurity, while those in power have failed to address the basic welfare needs of the people.

The former governor’s comments immediately stirred reactions among supporters and political observers, especially as speculation had intensified in recent weeks over his next political move. However, Aregbesola maintained that he has no reason to return to the APC, stressing that the ADC remains focused on building a stronger alternative platform for Nigerians.

Despite what he described as intimidation and political attacks, he praised ADC members in Osun for remaining loyal and determined. He urged party supporters not to lose hope, declaring that the party continues to gain momentum across the state.

Aregbesola also used the opportunity to endorse the ADC candidate, Najeem Folasayo Salaam Iwaloye, describing him as a grassroots politician committed to restoring development and progress in Osun State.

His strong declaration against returning to the APC is expected to deepen political conversations in Osun and beyond, especially among those closely monitoring the growing rivalry between opposition parties and the ruling government ahead of future political battles.
