Tinubu Lands in Kenya as Africa-France Summit Begins

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, for the highly anticipated Africa Forward Summit, a major gathering expected to shape the future of economic cooperation between African nations and France. The two-day summit is already drawing global attention as leaders prepare to discuss innovation, investment, climate action, and Africa’s growing role in the global economy.

Tinubu’s aircraft touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly after midnight on Monday, where he was welcomed by top Nigerian government officials and diplomats. Among those present were Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and several ministers overseeing finance, trade, agriculture, foreign affairs, and marine economy.

The summit, themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” will be co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto. Discussions are expected to center on green industrialisation, digital transformation, renewable energy, and new financing structures that could redefine Africa’s economic future.

For Nigeria, Tinubu’s participation goes beyond diplomacy. The President is expected to engage directly with international investors and African business leaders in a move aimed at attracting fresh investments into critical sectors of the Nigerian economy. Analysts believe the visit signals Nigeria’s determination to position itself as a leading destination for global partnerships and long-term economic growth.

The Nairobi engagement is only the beginning of a broader East African diplomatic mission. Tinubu is also scheduled to travel to Kigali, Rwanda, later this week for the Africa CEO Forum, where more than 2,000 investors, policymakers, and corporate leaders are expected to discuss strategies for accelerating Africa’s economic transformation through regional cooperation and cross-border investments.

As conversations around trade, technology, and sustainable development intensify, many observers will be watching closely to see how Nigeria leverages these international platforms to strengthen its economic influence across Africa and beyond.
