Troops Smash Terror Cells In Sambisa, Mandara Mountains

Nigerian troops under Operation HADIN KAI have recorded major battlefield gains against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in coordinated operations across the Sambisa Forest and Mandara Mountains.

According to a statement by the Joint Task Force North East, troops executing Operation Desert Sanity Five foiled an attempted ambush involving roadside explosives and heavy gunfire. Ten terrorists, including two senior commanders identified as Basulhu and Ubaida, were neutralised, while arms and logistics were recovered.

In a separate operation near Malkube, soldiers eliminated two more terrorists and seized weapons, ammunition and communication devices without any casualty on the side of the troops. Another unit also repelled terrorists attempting to infiltrate Nigeria from Cameroon around Galakura, forcing them to flee and abandon motorcycles and supplies.

Meanwhile, renewed clashes between ISWAP fighters and the Bukura faction loyal to Abu Umaima reportedly led to heavy terrorist casualties along the Lake Chad Basin axis of Borno State.
