Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed that education remains the most important investment for Nigeria’s economic growth. Speaking at the combined 37th and 38th Convocation Ceremony of Rivers State University, the governor praised the institution for delivering world-class education and producing leaders who contribute to national development.
Fubara celebrated the graduation of 13,242 students, describing the milestone as proof of the university’s impact. He pledged increased funding, improved infrastructure, and stronger support for staff and students. The governor also urged the school to prioritise research, innovation, and locally tailored solutions to address economic and security challenges.
He encouraged graduands to embrace integrity, hard work, and entrepreneurship, noting that job creation is vital for tackling insecurity and unemployment. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, also highlighted key achievements, including hostel facilities for 40,000 students and full accreditation across programs.
