Fresh tension has gripped Kwara State after terrorists reportedly abducted Oba Bayagan, a traditional ruler in Ifelodun Local Government Area. The monarch was kidnapped on Saturday, deepening fears over escalating insecurity across rural communities. Details of the attack remain unclear, but residents say the situation has worsened in recent weeks.
The kidnap comes barely two weeks after gunmen invaded a church in the Ekiti axis and abducted worshippers during a thanksgiving service—victims who were later rescued with security intervention. Another armed group also attacked Isapa community, kidnapping at least 11 residents, including women and youths.
Sources further confirmed that terrorists struck Manba Village late Friday, entering through the Rogun axis and abducting two more victims. Communities across Kwara and Ekiti now fear the insurgents are widening their operations.
