A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has granted bail to popular socialite and nightclub owner, Mike Nwalie, famously known as Pretty Mike, following his arraignment on drug-related charges.
Pretty Mike, the proprietor of the upscale Proxy Lagos Night Club, was arraigned on Thursday alongside the club’s 32-year-old supervisor, Joachim Hillary, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa presided over the case, where the duo faced a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, unlawful possession of drugs, and permitting their nightclub to be used for illicit drug activities.
The NDLEA prosecutor, Buhari Abdullahi, informed the court that the alleged offences took place on or about October 26, 2025, at the club located on Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island. The agency alleged that the defendants organized a “drug party,” leading to the seizure of 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa and 177 cylinders of Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) weighing over 364 kilograms.
While the prosecution opposed the bail application and requested a swift trial, the defence counsel, Dr. B.S. Awosika (SAN), argued for bail, stating his clients were not flight risks and had no prior criminal records.
In his ruling, Justice Lewis-Allagoa upheld the principle of presumption of innocence, granting each defendant bail at ₦50 million with two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned to January 14, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
