Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo, popularly known as Omoborty, has threatened legal action after a man — reportedly involved in the film industry — publicly accused her of being a “thief agent” following a real-estate promotion she posted on Instagram.
The row began when Okeowo shared a video advertising a landed property and stated its price as ₦50 million. Social media users pointed out that another actress, Biola Bayo, had earlier promoted the same property for ₦40 million, prompting corrections and heated comments under Omoborty’s post.
One commenter, believed to be from the movie community, went further and labelled her a “thief agent.” The accusation provoked a sharp response from Okeowo, who demanded proof and warned she would make the man a public example if he could not substantiate his claim.
“That guy sitting beside aunty Jaiye Kuti just called me a thief… On top a property he doesn’t even know the real owner. I’m going to use you as a scapegoat. You must prove that I’m a thief, else,” she declared.
Okeowo insisted the critic had no knowledge of the property’s true ownership and said she will pursue appropriate action to protect her name and reputation. The actress’s reaction has drawn widespread attention online, with fans and critics debating the ethics of public name-calling and the responsibilities of influencers when promoting third-party properties.
As of filing, the man has not publicly produced evidence to support his allegation, nor has any legal action been formally filed — though Omoborty has vowed to proceed if the claim is not retracted.
