The father of 18-year-old Christiana Idowu, a 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has raised fresh concerns over the lack of updates in the case of his daughter’s tragic death.
Christiana was brutally murdered in 2024 by her friend, 23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye, a Philosophy student at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU). Reports revealed that Ayomide lured her to his parents’ home in Ikorodu under the guise of repairing her phone. He then strangled her, buried her in a shallow grave, and later demanded ransom from her mother.
Ayomide was eventually arrested and confessed to the crime, stating that he killed Christiana due to financial difficulties and even used part of the ransom collected from her mother to settle his personal expenses.
Now, nearly a year later, Christiana’s grieving father, Mr. Idowu, has cried out publicly, lamenting that he remains in the dark about the case.
In a viral video, he said:
“Hello, Nigerians. I am the father of late Christiana, who was murdered by a friend. It’s getting to a year now. The boy was arrested, but I have no identity concerning the case. I’ve not heard anything about it. Please, I’m helpless, I’m in the dark. I don’t know whether the boy has even been released. Nigerians, please come to my aid, I can’t just allow my daughter to go like that.”
Mr. Idowu appealed to relevant authorities and well-meaning Nigerians to intervene so that justice can be served in his daughter’s case.
