Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has approved Prince Ashiru Oyebisi Olalere as the new Onilua of Ilua, bringing an end to the long-awaited succession process for the revered traditional stool in Kajola Local Government Area.
The approval was conveyed through an official letter issued by the Oyo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ibadan. Signed by the Director of Chieftaincy Matters, A.M. Olajire, the letter confirmed that the governor “graciously approved” the appointment, effective from October 20, 2023.
The ministry also disclosed that the appointment will be formally published in the Oyo State Government Official Gazette, in line with statutory requirements.
Indigenes of Ilua and stakeholders across Kajola Local Government have welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the new monarch’s reign will promote unity, peace, and socio-economic development within the community.
