ADC Primary Storm Deepens: Party Chieftain Sends Strong Message to Amaechi, Hayatu-deen

The political drama surrounding the African Democratic Congress presidential primary appears far from over as fresh reactions continue to emerge from within the party. Just when attention seemed focused on the outcome of the exercise, a new message directed at dissatisfied aspirants is now adding another layer to the unfolding situation.

Following complaints and allegations surrounding the conduct of the primary election, tensions have continued to rise among party stakeholders and supporters eager to see how the disagreement will eventually be resolved.

A member of the ADC electoral panel, Chille Igbawua, has now urged aggrieved aspirants, including Chibuike Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-deen, to pursue the party’s internal appeal process rather than publicly rejecting the outcome of the primary election.

The development follows concerns raised by Amaechi, who reportedly rejected the results and alleged widespread voter disenfranchisement and electoral irregularities during the exercise. The former Rivers governor claimed that a significant number of party members were unable to participate in the voting process.

Hayatu-deen had also reportedly expressed concerns over alleged irregularities, citing dissatisfaction with the process and indicating that he would not attend the announcement of the election results.

Responding to the concerns, Igbawua emphasized that the party already has established mechanisms for addressing grievances. According to him, appeal panels were created specifically to handle disputes involving screening exercises and primary election outcomes.

He argued that political processes are handled by people and challenges may occasionally arise, but maintained that internal systems exist to review complaints and address concerns where necessary.

As discussions continue across political circles, attention is now shifting toward what happens next. Will the aggrieved aspirants approach the appeal process, or could the disagreement trigger deeper political tensions within the party?

With 2027 political calculations already gaining momentum, the unfolding drama may still have several chapters left.
