A disturbing video has sparked nationwide outrage after showing Nigerian soldiers hanging and flogging a helpless dog for allegedly eating meat worth ₦5,000.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows the animal tied and suspended from a roof beam while one soldier repeatedly whips it. Another uniformed officer is seen recording the ordeal with a mobile phone.
During the act, one of the soldiers was heard shouting: “Only you don chop ₦5,000 meat!”
Despite the merciless flogging, the dog made no sound, hanging helplessly throughout the punishment.
Public Outcry and Condemnation
The video has triggered a storm of condemnation from animal lovers, rights activists, and social media users, many of whom described the soldiers’ action as “cruel, inhumane, and disgraceful.”
