Former Big Brother Naija housemate Leo DaSilva has openly criticized Yoruba elders for their decision to sell family land to Igbo people, labeling their actions as greedy.
His remarks followed comments from social commentator Scott Iguma, who highlighted corruption within the real estate sector.
Iguma pointed out that some Yoruba elders willingly sell land to outsiders instead of utilizing it for the benefit of their communities. He emphasized that the Igbos do not steal land but purchase it legally, while Yoruba leaders often squander the proceeds on luxury items rather than improving local living conditions.
Iguma suggested that if there is concern regarding outsiders in Yoruba land, leaders should focus on developing seaports and international airports in other states to attract foreign business elsewhere.
In response, Leo DaSilva expressed that the greed of Yoruba elders has led to their ridicule. He noted that family disputes over inherited property have exacerbated the situation, making it easier for others to mock the Yoruba people.
DaSilva tweeted, “lol this narrative of Yoruba elders selling family land to our Igbo people, that’s where I will always blame us Yoruba people. Everyone is now using it to make fun of us. Your parents that are greedy and fighting their siblings for property they didn’t work for, caused this.”
