Confusion has trailed reports surrounding the tragic loss announced by Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta, but actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has now stepped forward to set the record straight.
The misunderstanding began when Chatta shared an emotional tribute on Instagram, mourning the death of someone he described as his “son.” The post immediately triggered an outpouring of condolences from fans and colleagues who assumed he was referring to his biological son.
Among those who sympathized was Opeyemi Aiyeola, who in an earlier post encouraged Chatta to remain strong while praying for Allah’s comfort for him and his family.
However, in a new clarification, the actress explained that Chatta did not lose his biological son, but rather his godson, who was very dear to him and considered “like a son.”
Aiyeola admitted that it has been a deeply emotional period for all involved and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.
“Ibrahim Chatta didn’t lose his biological son but a godson, who is also like a son to him. May his pure soul continue to rest peacefully. It’s been an extremely emotional ride so far. God have mercy,” she wrote.
A quick check on Ibrahim Chatta’s Instagram page showed that the actor had re-edited his initial post to reflect the clarification, confirming that the tragic loss was indeed that of his godson.
