Former U.S. President Donald Trump has raised alarm over what he describes as America’s dwindling global influence, claiming the United States has “lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China.”
Trump made the remarks in a Truth Social post early Friday, September 5, 2025, accompanied by a photo featuring Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Looks like we’ve lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest, China. May they have a long and prosperous future together,” Trump wrote.
His comments came just days after the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China. The SCO, formed in the early 2000s to counterbalance U.S. influence in Central Asia, has grown in significance amid ongoing tensions over the Russia-Ukraine war, shifting trade relations, and evolving power blocs.
Earlier in the week, Trump accused China, Russia, and North Korea of conspiring against the United States following a military parade in Beijing commemorating 80 years since the end of World War II.
He further urged Americans to remember the sacrifices of U.S. soldiers who fought in China, expressing deep concern over Washington’s strained relations with Beijing.
The former president’s remarks highlight growing anxieties over realignments in global power, as China continues to court both Moscow and New Delhi into its expanding geopolitical orbit.
