Popular Nigerian content creator and social commentator, Geh Geh, has stirred intense reactions online after advising men against making major financial investments in women they are dating, claiming that many relationships today are built on financial dependence rather than genuine love.

Speaking during an interview on the BTC Podcast, Geh Geh argued that men should focus on building their own financial future instead of spending heavily to satisfy girlfriends or partners at the expense of their personal growth.

According to him, many men end up making life-changing financial mistakes because they neglect their own needs while trying to impress or support women financially.

“Don’t train a woman in school. Don’t stress yourself for a woman. Don’t open a business for a woman,” Geh Geh said, urging men to be more cautious with their finances.

During the interview, he was asked whether women also make sacrifices by committing to one man through marriage. However, the content creator dismissed the comparison, insisting that men and women play different roles in relationships.

He further claimed that marriage often brings financial benefits to women, arguing that many expenses, including accommodation, are taken over by the husband after marriage.

Clarifying his controversial remarks, Geh Geh stressed that he is not opposed to relationships or supporting a partner. Instead, he said his criticism is directed at situations where individuals allegedly enter relationships primarily as a means of escaping poverty.

“I’m not really against relationships. I dey against women wey wan use relationship take escape poverty. When you dey neglect yourself to please a woman, na financial mistake, you go cry,” he stated.

Geh Geh also referenced examples from the animal kingdom while defending his views, claiming that in many species, females are responsible for sourcing food, adding that men should learn to protect their financial future instead of making expensive sacrifices driven by emotion.

His comments have since triggered widespread debate on social media, with supporters agreeing that financial discipline is important, while critics argue that healthy relationships should be based on mutual support, trust, and shared responsibilities.
