Afrobeats icon Tiwa Savage has ignited fresh debate in the music industry by questioning the long-standing “Big 3” narrative that typically names Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as the leading figures.
Speaking in a recent YouTube interview released on Wednesday, Savage argued that excluding Tems from such conversations is unfair, given her global accomplishments.
Tems, who boasts a Grammy Award, a Billboard Hot 100 appearance, and collaborations with several international superstars, has become a central figure in the global rise of Afrobeats.
“I also feel like it’s unfair to have that conversation about the Big 3 and not mention someone like Tems,” Savage remarked during the chat, where she appeared calm and confident in a black leather jacket.
Her comments have since sparked conversations among fans and industry observers about whether the “Big 3” label should be revised to reflect Afrobeats’ evolving global landscape.
