Gumi Reacts After ISIS Commander Al-Minuki Is Killed

Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi has reacted to the reported killing of Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, identified as the second-in-command of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria worldwide, during a joint military operation involving American forces and the Nigerian military.

The development has triggered widespread reactions both locally and internationally after Donald Trump announced that US forces, working alongside Nigerian authorities, successfully carried out the operation following what he described as extensive intelligence gathering and strategic coordination.

According to Trump, al-Minuki was among the most dangerous ISIS figures operating in Africa and was heavily involved in coordinating attacks against both African communities and American interests.

The US president described the operation as a major breakthrough in the global fight against terrorism, insisting that the death of al-Minuki would significantly weaken ISIS activities across Africa.

Reacting to the news, Gumi acknowledged that fighting terrorism remains a religious obligation but raised concerns about the methods and individuals involved in such operations.

“It’s a religious obligation to annihilate terrorists, but not with Beelzebub and hands stained with the blood of innocent men, women, and children,” the cleric wrote in a Facebook post that quickly attracted public attention online.

His statement has already sparked mixed reactions, with some Nigerians supporting his caution about civilian casualties during military operations, while others praised the joint operation as a critical victory against terrorism.

Security analysts believe the killing of al-Minuki could disrupt extremist networks operating across parts of Africa, especially in regions battling insurgency, banditry, and terrorist violence.

The operation also highlights growing military cooperation between Nigeria and the United States in tackling extremist threats threatening regional stability.

Trump further commended the Nigerian government and military for their role in the mission, describing the partnership as important in confronting global terrorism.

As reactions continue to pour in, many observers are now watching closely to see whether the operation will lead to further crackdowns on ISIS-linked groups across Africa or trigger retaliatory threats from extremist networks.
