There are some lies that are not just offensive.

They are criminally dangerous.

And if the full allegations around Blessing CEO’s stage 4 cancer saga are true, then Nigerians are right to be outraged.

Because this is not just about clout, pity, or online sympathy anymore.

It is about whether a public figure can allegedly fake a life-threatening illness, collect public donations, present disputed medical evidence, then still walk from one TV platform to another defending herself like nothing serious happened.

That is where the anger is coming from.

Fresh reports show Blessing CEO publicly walked back the “stage 4” part of her claim, describing it as a “miscommunication,” while also admitting she received about ₦13 million in donations during the emotional fallout. Separate reports also say a family accused her of allegedly using or altering a woman’s medical record, while public pressure for a refund — and even arrest — has intensified.

Now let’s be honest:

If an ordinary Nigerian did this outside celebrity culture, many people would not be asking for “clarification.”

They would be asking for arrest.

Because if there was deliberate deception involved, the likely issues are serious:

false pretence, forgery, identity misuse, and obtaining money by deception.

Under Nigerian law, obtaining by false pretence (“419”) and related fraud offences are not social media crimes — they are criminal offences that can be investigated and prosecuted.

So who should act?

If any money was obtained through alleged deception, the Nigeria Police Force, EFCC, and potentially state criminal investigators should be looking into it — especially if donors, the alleged original patient/family, or affected parties file formal petitions.

And that is the point Nigerians are making.

Because if a person can allegedly exploit cancer, public emotion, and medical trust without immediate legal scrutiny, then the message to society becomes dangerous:

that sympathy can be weaponized — and celebrity can delay accountability.

And that would be a disgrace.
