Iran Blames US, Israel for Deadly Violence in Recent Protests

Iran’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Gholamreza Raja, has accused the United States and Israel of orchestrating deadly violence during recent protests in Iranian cities. The demonstrations, initially peaceful and driven by economic grievances, escalated after foreign agents allegedly infiltrated the crowds, resulting in attacks on civilians and police.

Raja disputed reports of 30,000 deaths, stating the official toll is around 3,000. He highlighted Mossad involvement and financial support from the US to protesters as evidence of external interference. Internet shutdowns, he explained, were aimed at preventing coordination between domestic groups and foreign actors.

The ambassador also stressed the importance of strengthening Iran-Nigeria ties, particularly in the energy sector. He noted that collaboration in petrochemical expertise and oil production could enhance influence in global markets while generating economic benefits for both nations.

Raja’s claims reflect ongoing tensions over foreign interference, economic instability, and strategic international partnerships amid protests and unrest.
