The Interim National Chairperson of the Labour Party (LP), Nenadi Usman, has declared that only the faction under her leadership will appear on the ballot in the 2027 general elections. Speaking on Prime Time on Arise Television on Monday, Usman said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognises her as the party’s authentic national chairperson.
According to her, this recognition gives her leadership the sole authority to invite INEC to monitor party primaries, congresses, and conventions. She dismissed claims by the Julius Abure-led faction, insisting there is no confusion over the party’s legitimate leadership.
Usman explained that following INEC’s position, party stakeholders, including members of the National Executive Council, came together under the guidance of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, to set up structures for congresses leading to a national convention.
She urged party members to prioritise Nigeria and party unity, stressing her commitment to peace and internal democracy.
