Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is planning to remove Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 presidential election. In a statement through his media aide, Ayodele warned that an acrimonious removal of Shettima could backfire on the ruling party, as the VP may work against its interests.
Ayodele cautioned against maintaining a Muslim-Muslim ticket, saying that previous advice ignored by Tinubu has contributed to tensions. He also advised against selecting any of the northern governors who recently defected to the ruling party as Shettima’s replacement, warning it could provoke unrest in the region.
Highlighting political risks, Ayodele noted that betrayal and hidden agendas within Tinubu’s circle could undermine his government. He also suggested that foreign powers, particularly the US, are monitoring Nigeria’s security structures and know where to challenge the administration.
The spiritual leader urged caution, emphasizing that internal party conflicts and strategic missteps could affect Tinubu’s chances in 2027.
