A 20-year-old Ogun State student, Adeosun Ayomide Oluwaseun, has narrated how losing his right eye at age 10 shattered his dream of becoming a soldier and exposed him to stigma.
Oluwaseun, now an ND2 Mass Communication student at Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, lost his eye in a domestic accident while attempting to fix a faulty door. Medical intervention failed, and doctors advised the removal of the eye to prevent further complications.
Despite the setback, Oluwaseun has refused to give up on life. He now combines academics with his passion for music, especially playing the talking drum, which he describes as his source of joy and healing.
He revealed daily struggles with mobility, academic tasks and stigma on campus, often wearing dark shades to avoid unwanted attention. Oluwaseun called on the Ogun State Government to support students living with disabilities through inclusive infrastructure and educational assistance.
