Uncertainty Grows Over Abba Yusuf’s Alleged Move From NNPP to APC

Uncertainty surrounded reports of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf’s alleged defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, as no official confirmation emerged at the ward level.

Earlier reports suggested that the governor would formally register as an APC member at Ɗiso Ward in Gwale Local Government Area on January 12, 2026. However, the APC ward chairman, Malam Maje Kabir Ahmad, said no directive had been received from the party’s leadership concerning Yusuf’s registration.

Maje stated that while the ward was on standby, there was no indication the governor would arrive as speculated. He noted that Ɗiso Ward remains politically strategic, housing key APC leaders and the governor himself.

Despite the speculation, APC officials maintained that the ward is fully prepared to receive Governor Yusuf whenever he decides to make his move official.
