Former Guinness World Record (GWR) cooking champion, Hilda Baci, is gearing up for another historic culinary feat—this time, aiming to break the record for the largest pot of jollof rice ever cooked.
The Nigerian chef, who went viral in 2023 for her 93-hour and 11-minute cooking marathon, announced her latest attempt in a viral Instagram video on Monday.
According to Hilda, the mega cooking project will involve 250 bags of basmati rice, prepared inside a gigantic 22,619-litre pot.
She revealed that the pot measures 6 meters wide, 1.1 meters tall, and 1.3 meters deep—large enough to cook a meal that will serve 10,000 people.
“I’m making the executive decision to cook 250 bags of basmati rice. The pot is 6 meters wide by 6 meters wide, 1.1 meters tall, and about 1.3 meters deep. I’m sure the pot is not going to sink,” Hilda assured.
The event is scheduled to take place on September 12, 2025, and promises to be a major cultural celebration, bringing together food lovers from across Nigeria and beyond.
This challenge comes exactly two years after Hilda first captured global attention with her cooking marathon that redefined culinary endurance and broke international records.
With her new mission, she hopes not only to secure another Guinness World Record but also to showcase Nigerian jollof rice as a global delicacy.
Food enthusiasts, fans, and Guinness officials will all be watching closely as Hilda sets her sights on making history once again.
