Former Afenifere Secretary-General and NADECO chieftain, Ayo Opadokun, has alleged that Nigeria’s worsening insecurity is the result of deliberate planning by destabilising forces, not an accident. Speaking in Offa, Kwara State, after his installation as Grand Patron of CAN, Offa Local Government, Opadokun claimed that bandits and insurgents are being sponsored by interests determined to undermine the country.
He said the Federal Government had been warned about the dangers of non-state actors possessing weapons more advanced than those of Nigeria’s security forces, but the situation was allowed to escalate. Opadokun further alleged that meetings involving Nigerian elements and Sahel-region interests were held as far back as 2022 to plan Nigeria’s destabilisation.
While praising President Bola Tinubu’s tax reforms, Opadokun urged the government to combine bold policies with empathy, transparency, and stronger security action.
