Niger Governor Presents ₦1.031trn 2026 Budget

Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has presented a ₦1.031 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly, describing it as a “Budget of Consolidation” focused on sustaining development and addressing emerging socio-economic challenges.

The budget allocates over ₦270 billion (26.19%) to recurrent expenditure, while more than ₦761 billion (73.81%) is set aside for capital projects. Funding sources include statutory allocations, VAT, internally generated revenue, FAAC receipts, grants, and loans.

Governor Bago said the economic sector received the highest allocation of over ₦510 billion, reflecting priorities such as job creation, agricultural transformation, and economic growth, while transportation received just above ₦1 billion.

The governor urged lawmakers to ensure speedy passage, reaffirming his commitment to transparency, fiscal discipline, and building a secure, green, and prosperous Niger State.
