Morayo Afolabi-Brown Opens Up on Depression, Suicidal Thoughts and Career Struggles

Nigerian television host, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, has bravely shared her personal battle with depression and suicidal thoughts during her time as host of Your View on TVC.

In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Morayo revealed that at some point in her career, she felt stuck and overwhelmed, which led her into depression.

“I was depressed. At a point, I was suicidal. I walked on the express, hoping a car would hit me. It was that bad,” she confessed.

Morayo explained that she had been considering quitting her role for years but lacked clarity on what next steps to take. It was during TVC’s 10th anniversary that she finally realized it was time to move on to the next phase of her career.

After serving for 12 years as the face of Your View, Morayo announced her resignation in 2025, a move that sparked widespread discussion online.

Beyond her career, Morayo has also faced public scrutiny over her political opinions. On July 11, 2025, she came under attack following a controversial post where she urged President Bola Tinubu to consider handing over power to another politician temporarily.

Responding to critics, the mother of four clarified that she voted for Tinubu based on personal conviction and not for political gain. She stressed that every Nigerian has the right to personal choices without fear or harassment.

Morayo’s story sheds light on the mental health struggles many public figures face despite their success, reminding us that conversations around depression, burnout, and personal freedom are more important than ever.
