Tension is brewing in the Daniels family as Sweezy Daniels, the elder brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has raised alarm over the whereabouts of their younger brother, Samuel Daniels, popularly known as Sammy West, who was allegedly arrested in Lagos on Monday, November 3, and later taken to Abuja.
In a post shared on Instagram, Sweezy accused Senator Ned Nwoko of intimidation and abuse of power, claiming Sammy has been denied food, water, and access to legal aid since his arrest.
“Sammy does not have a right to legal aid. Sammy has had nothing to eat or drink. His location remains undisclosed. Is this still an arrest or intimidation and power abuse?” Sweezy wrote.
He further alleged that Nwoko vowed to keep Sammy detained until Regina returns to his home, adding that the case had gone beyond a lawful arrest.
“Ned said, and I quote, ‘If Regina does not come back home, Sammy will never be released.’ If you want to go to court, let’s go to court. Why block his right to legal aid?” he added.
Police Clarify Arrest Circumstances
The Lagos State Police Command has since clarified that the arrest was not carried out by its personnel but by a team of officers from Abuja who operated under a valid warrant.
According to the Command, Samuel was only held briefly at the Ogombo Police Division due to the late-night arrest before being transferred to Abuja for further investigation.
The development has stirred reactions on social media, with Nigerians calling for transparency and demanding Sammy West’s immediate release.
