Turkish giants Fenerbahce have officially parted ways with manager Jose Mourinho following the club’s failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage.
The decision came just a day after Fenerbahce were knocked out by Benfica, marking another disappointing chapter in Mourinho’s brief tenure. The Portuguese coach, 62, had been in charge for only eight months, managing just two matches this season.
Despite guiding the team to a second-place finish in the Super Lig, Mourinho failed to deliver silverware. Under his leadership, Fenerbahce also crashed out of the Turkish Cup and the Europa League.
In a statement, the club said: “We appreciate his contributions but believe this decision serves the best interest of our future ambitions.”
Fans remain divided — some praising Mourinho’s experience, while others criticized the team’s lack of consistency in crucial games.
