Celebrity nightlife promoter and businessman, Cubana Chief Priest, has responded fiercely to billionaire Cosmas Maduka, Chairman of Coscharis Group, following Maduka’s criticism of the viral phrase “Money na water.”
In a lengthy Instagram post, the popular nightlife mogul defended the ideology behind his statement, arguing that while the older generation built wealth through factories, fleets, and real estate, today’s generation thrives on attention, visibility, and influence — which he described as “the new currency.”
“In the digital economy, obscurity is bankruptcy. What you don’t show doesn’t sell. Content is not noise — it is digital equity,” Chief Priest wrote.
Taking a jab at Maduka’s comments about avoiding events where people “throw money around,” Chief Priest said:
“You used us to trend without paying us. Why must a billionaire pretend to use the toilet just to run away from an event?”
He further urged Maduka to “remove his name from the likes of Tony Elumelu and Femi Otedola,” praising the two for using their wealth to empower Africans and boost visibility across the continent.
Chief Priest explained that “Money na water” represents abundance and liquidity, not wastefulness. He added that the phrase is a “prophecy” about the flow of wealth, hinting at a new anthem dropping on Friday midnight.
“When I say ‘Money na water,’ it’s not vanity — it’s a revelation of excess liquidity, abundance, and flow. Attention produces wealth today, just as factories did in the 80s,” he declared.
The social media buzz surrounding the clash has sparked heated debates between the old and new money generations — one built on silent success, and the other powered by visibility and influence.
