Famous media personality and food content creator, Akinyemi Oluwaseun Omotayo, popularly known as Asherkine, has finally revealed the reason behind his decision to stop producing binge-eating videos — a genre that once made him one of Nigeria’s most-watched food creators.
Asherkine Speaks On Struggles With Gluttony
In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Asherkine disclosed that his love for binge-eating content led him down a dangerous path of compulsive eating and health complications.
“I genuinely enjoyed clearing up over five different meals regularly until my body told me,” he wrote.
“Even though I tried to stay fit, I lost the concept of moderation. Binge-eating became my lifestyle even when I wasn’t filming. I would keep eating until I started feeling abdominal discomfort.”
The influencer further revealed that the habit brought severe consequences, including heart palpitations, excess weight gain, irregular sleep, fatigue, and even high blood pressure.
Mental Battle Against Compulsive Eating
Speaking candidly about his mental health, Asherkine described his battle with gluttony as one of the hardest challenges he has ever faced.
“The mental battle to beat gluttony is probably the hardest thing to deal with. I can’t express how disrespectful gluttony is and how much power it holds — but it’s mad underrated,” he said.
He encouraged fans battling similar struggles to seek help, noting that Compulsive Eating Disorder (CED) should not be taken lightly.
Despite stepping back from binge-eating, Asherkine assured fans that he will continue creating food content — but with moderation and health consciousness in mind.
