Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has broken her silence on the long-standing rift with fellow singer Seyi Shay, revealing the truth behind their infamous 2021 salon confrontation that shook the Nigerian music industry.
Speaking during a candid chat on Off Air with Gbemi O and Toolz, the “Somebody’s Son” crooner said the feud began after a diss track and false rumours that she was deliberately sabotaging other female artistes.
Tiwa dismissed the claims as baseless, insisting that she has always supported women in entertainment.
“I heard that they thought I blocked their bag. How? If anyone has told you I blocked your bag, mention the person so I can address it,” Tiwa said firmly.
She recalled how she actually lost a major Pepsi endorsement deal to Seyi Shay in 2017 after giving birth to her son, Jamil.
“When I had Jamil, I was removed from the Pepsi campaign, and Seyi was booked for it. So how am I stopping anyone’s bag?” she asked.
The feud between both stars peaked in 2021 when they clashed publicly in a Lagos salon — an incident that went viral across social media. While Seyi Shay later claimed she attempted reconciliation, Tiwa’s revelations suggest their differences were deep-rooted, fuelled by industry gossip and rivalry.
Despite the tension, fans continue to hope the two powerhouse singers will bury the hatchet and collaborate again in the future.
