A Nigerian woman, Queen Christopher, has gone viral on social media after revealing that she ended her relationship with her “handsome” boyfriend because he constantly asked her for money.
According to Queen, the relationship quickly became financially draining as her boyfriend regularly borrowed small amounts — typically around ₦5,000 — promising to repay but never doing so. Instead, he would take new loans to settle old ones.
In a humorous yet revealing post, she said the situation made her feel like she was managing a cooperative society rather than being in a romantic relationship.
Queen recounted how even affectionate messages or compliments from him were often followed by requests for money. “If I say I miss you, he’ll reply ‘I miss you too, but borrow me.’ If I post fine picture, he’ll say ‘My investor is glowing,’” she wrote.
The final straw came when she realized she was the one getting broke. When her boyfriend asked if she was leaving him because he was broke, she replied, “No o, I’m leaving you because I’m the one that’s getting broke!”
Queen said the experience taught her an important lesson and she now lives by a new rule: “If your first sentence starts with ‘borrow me,’ your last sentence will be ‘she blocked me.’”
