Veteran Nollywood actor Alhaji Babatunde Bamgbode, popularly known as Baba Fokoko, has dismissed claims that he and other celebrities were promised rewards for supporting Bola Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign. The clarification comes amid comments from fellow actors Lalude, Alapini, Toyin Abraham, Olaiye Igwe, Seyi Law, Eniola Badmus, and Foluke Daramola, some of whom expressed regret over perceived lack of recognition.
Speaking on Oyinmomo TV, Fakoko stated that MC Oluomo, president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), never promised any material compensation. “He didn’t promise to reward any of us. He didn’t promise me anything,” Fakoko said, emphasizing that the intent was to support the campaign, not to distribute post-election rewards.
He added that MC Oluomo had provided food supplies during the campaign, which were shared among participants. “We went home with those foodstuffs more than twice, but there were no promises of further compensation,” Fakoko clarified, countering suggestions that celebrities were shortchanged or misled.
