Two separate fire incidents have destroyed properties worth millions of naira in Oyo State, affecting a healthcare centre in Ogbomoso and a plastic factory in Saki.
The first incident occurred on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at a primary healthcare centre located at Masifa, Idi Araba, Ogbomoso, where the solar panel room was engulfed in flames.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire damaged solar power installations and other items. However, no life was lost.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, said his men swiftly responded to a distress call at 8:55 pm and successfully curtailed the fire from spreading to other sections of the building.
“The fire may have been caused by heated solar power batteries or electrical gadgets. Fortunately, no casualty was recorded and properties worth millions were saved,” Akinwande stated.
In a related development, another fire incident occurred on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at a plastic industry in the General Hospital area of Saki.
Akinwande explained that the blaze started from the solar power system installed in the factory’s store, damaging the solar unit and some plastic materials before fire officers contained it.
“No casualty was recorded, and our swift response helped save properties worth billions of naira,” he said, attributing the cause to an electrical fault in the solar power system.
