Phyna, the winner of Big Brother Naija Level Up season, has laid her younger sister, Ruth Otabor, to rest following a tragic road accident that claimed Ruth’s life.
Ruth was involved in a devastating crash on August 13, 2025, when a truck belonging to the Dangote Group struck her near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State, just six days after she graduated.
Reports indicate that the accident resulted in severe injuries for the 24-year-old, including the amputation of one leg, damage to the other, and significant head and hand injuries. Despite medical efforts, Ruth passed away on August 31 at approximately 6:30 a.m., as confirmed by the family through their legal representatives.
Her remains were transported from Ebony Mortuary in Ikoyi to her family home in Ikorodu, Ogun State. A video circulating online from the burial ceremony shows Phyna surrounded by friends and former BBNaija housemates, including Christy O and Groovy, who provided support during this emotional time.
The Dangote Group expressed condolences over Ruth’s death, stating they had covered her medical expenses, arranged for treatment abroad, and offered support to the family. However, the incident has ignited public outrage, with many calling for justice and improved corporate responsibility regarding road safety.
