Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has launched the Mutfwang Legacy Scholarship Scheme, dispatching 200 students to India for degree programmes in Medical Sciences, Engineering and ICT. The students will study at Sanskaram University, India, in what is regarded as one of Plateau’s biggest foreign education interventions.
Speaking at the send-off ceremony in Jos, Governor Mutfwang described the scheme as a strategic, merit-driven investment in human capital, stressing that the selection process was transparent and free from political or quota influence. He urged the beneficiaries to remain disciplined, focused and worthy ambassadors of the state.
The governor also unveiled education reforms in the 2026 budget, including special research funding, expanded postgraduate programmes and increased support for Master’s and PhD studies. Education stakeholders and parents praised the initiative, calling it a landmark achievement that prioritises excellence and positions Plateau for long-term development.
