A 30-year-old mother of four, Adama Hannafi, has died by suicide in Dutse Local Government Area, Jigawa State. The victim was found hanging from a tree in Sumore village on Tuesday afternoon, October 7, 2025, confirmed SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, spokesperson for the Jigawa State Police Command.
Police investigations revealed that Hannafi had been struggling with mental illness prior to the incident. “A team of officers from Yalwawa Division responded to the report, examined the body, and no foul play was suspected. The body was taken to Dutse General Hospital and confirmed dead,” the PPRO stated.
Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, urging families and communities to support individuals showing signs of mental distress. He advised seeking early medical and psychological intervention to prevent such tragedies and encouraged prompt reporting of unusual or concerning behaviors to authorities.
The deceased leaves behind a husband and four children.
