M.I Abaga Says He Prefers Raising His Future Kids in Nigeria

Nigerian rap legend and music executive, M.I Abaga, has opened up about his preferred place to raise his future children — and it’s right here in Nigeria.

In a recent interview, the award-winning rapper expressed deep admiration for Nigeria’s family-oriented culture and strong communal ties, saying the country provides an ideal environment for parenting.

According to M.I, the collective support system among Nigerians makes raising children more manageable, as family members and neighbors often step in to assist.

“There’s something special about home; we’re part of a system that naturally supports each other,” he said. “It’s tough for parents everywhere, but here, if you have family, you have people who can step in and help. That support makes a big difference.”

The “One Naira” crooner compared parenting in Nigeria to life in Western countries, particularly the United States, noting that many parents abroad face challenges due to the demanding work culture and individualistic lifestyles.

While admitting that raising children abroad has its perks, M.I emphasized that Nigeria provides a solid cultural foundation for children to understand their roots before experiencing the world outside.

Although he revealed he isn’t actively planning for a family yet, M.I maintained that Nigeria’s spirit of togetherness remains unmatched when it comes to raising children.
