IGP Orders Massive Manhunt After Deadly Kwara Attack

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered an immediate tactical deployment to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a deadly attack that left at least 75 people confirmed dead.

According to the Nigeria Police Force, specialised tactical, operational and intelligence units have been deployed to Kaiama and nearby communities to restore calm, boost security and prevent further violence. An intensive manhunt is also underway to track down the attackers and their accomplices.

The police described the attack as tragic and deeply disturbing, assuring Nigerians that all available resources have been mobilised to ensure justice. Residents were urged to remain calm and share credible intelligence with security agencies.

Reports from the area revealed that gunmen invaded Woro and Nuku communities, burning shops, attacking homes and forcing residents to flee. President Bola Tinubu has since ordered the deployment of an army battalion to reinforce security, while Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq described the incident as a “pure massacre.”

The Federal Government reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and crushing terrorism across the country.
